Barkeater Lake's pending fate
Okay... so I guess I need to do some splainin'...
Yes, as of January 6th, Barkeater Lake will cease to exist on comics.com. The filing deadlines, coupled with the measly salary played the largest part in my decision to end my relationship with United Media. I'm sure there will be future projects will UM in the future, but Barkeater Lake will not be one of them.
Yes, I am reviewing the possibility of continuing Barkeater Lake on my own. I own the www.barkeaterlake.com domain, so it's a definite possibility. The idea of making the strip whatever I want is appetizing.
Yes, I am working on the forever-and-a-day-long production of a Barkeater Lake book. I want it to be as great as the comic was in the first two years, so I'm taking my time.
I will post updates as frequently as I can about a new BL site and the forthcoming book.
I promise.
Cheers,
Corey

I can't tell you how distressed I was at your message on the comics.com site. Of course I googled BL and found this site, so at least I will know the ultimate fate of the comic. I wish I could say I was surprised, but after all that Dave Kellet and Sheldon went through, I was wondering if/when it would happen w/ you. Good luck and here is one vote for you to keep Barkeater Lake going somewhere. I'll follow. (and I'll buy the book when it comes out)
I'll second the motion of buying the book, Corey.
Good luck, man!
Thanks for the update. I vote for more BL any way you want to serve it up.
Your strips are golden, and not being gagged can only make them more... well, BL-like. Looking forward to the book, and any new work you can squeeze out.
ditto alla the comments already. please keep producing the (near) daily doses of BL!
I really enjoy your strip; it's one of the few comics I make time to read. I hope you do continue it. Keep me posted! :)
Dude! You so have to keep Barkeater Lake going. I have really enjoyed the strip and most of the characters. Please try to keep it going somewhere.
VIVA LA BACON!
BL is one of the best comics I've ever read, and being from upstate NY myself, I can relate even more. Since I've told all my friends, the daily BL fix (even without the Sunday version with the great graphics) will be sorely missed.
We all will be looking for the book, and hopefully more strip.
Best of luck
B-Lake is great. Keep it going. Can't stand the UM-comics.com website anyway.
