Barkeater Lake UPDATE
Howdy!
Let me begin by saying how touched I am by the overwhelming reaction to the announcement of Barkeater Lake ending on comics.com. I want to personally thank those of you who emailed, wishing me well. It means a great deal. So much that I’ve decided to continue Barkeater Lake on my own. As excited as this sounds, keep in mind it will be a challenge for me, considering the big reason for ending the run on comics.com was due to lack of supporting salary generated from the United Media site. Hopefully sales of the upcoming book collection and new merchandise can stimulate enough cash flow to support continued adventures of Delores, Chuck, Banks and Co.
So, beginning January 22nd, you can find you’re daily dose of Barkeater Lake at www.barkeaterlake.com. Currently, this url points to the comics.com site, but after January 6th, I will own the domain name. The site will offer daily comics, color SUNDAY comics, an archive of every BL strip and a merchandise storefront. Access to the site will be free. I have considered the idea making the strip a subscription service, but I think I need to prove the strip’s value before doing so. There will be a place to donate to the site, with each donation of $25 or more receiving an autographed original drawing of everyone’s favorite flying dog, Banks. There will also be a Barkeater Lake monthly newsletter available, as well as comics delivered to your email.
As for the Barkeater Lake book... It is nearly finished and ready to go to press. Here’s the thing: Print on Demand quality is not up to the standards I’d like the first book to be at, so I’m going the conventional route. This means I need to fork over money up front. So, I’ve decided to do a pre-order of the first book. I anticipate pre-ordering to begin January 2nd. I’ll need at least 200 orders to afford printing of the first edition. The faster this goal is reached, the faster we’ll have a Barkeater Lake book! YAY!
As soon as the book is ready for pre-order, I'll post a link.
I’m very excited about this first book. It includes the entire 1st year of BL, dailies and full color Sundays, some commentary on different strips and a forward by my good friend, Francesco Marciuliano of Medium Large and Sally Forth fame. The first 250 pre-ordered books will be signed with an original sketch.
So that’s the news. We’ll see how it goes on our own. Once again, thank you all for your support of Barkeater Lake. It really is a joy to draw and write. I hope that these new opportunities will afford me the time and attention it deserves.
Cheers!
Corey

Was realy quite down when I came into work on monday, logged on to discover no more Barkeater lake! Disaster where had it gone? Did comics.com say anything about it? Did i have the time to look. well the answer to the last was not untill today when I have found your site and look forward to the link from comics.com getting sorted. Many thanks for the surreal and inverted humour you provide to lighten the start of British Managers Day.
