New. Different. I was bored.

So we're making a turn here at www.cpantoon.com. From here on out, we'll be known as rockstar, showcasing not only our own cartoons, comedy and animation but also the work of some of our most favoritest fellow folk. There'll be links and photos of bands, comedy, cartoons and upcoming shows, as well as regular comedy rants from the top comedic minds within a 50 square foot perimeter of our house.

The portfolio and upcoming events will be live in the next couple days.

We hope you enjoy the pontificational ridicularity that is rockstar.

Cheers!

hi my name is Mike MacNerland i'm from Saranac Lake. i just wanted to let you know that you have been a huge inspiration for me. Being a aspiring cartoonist myself i always looked up to you because growing up in saranac lake i never knew any other cartoonist until the day you came into Doc Ward's art class to give us some tips. At the time i was to shy to tell you that i too wanted to be a cartoonist. Another memory that sticks out was when we had that major ice storm and SL was out of power for like 2 weeks i remember seeing t-shirts popping up that you had drawn with two guys commenting on the storm saying "well, at least the beer is still cold." -classic dude. I think that sums up SL perfectly.
Around this time i had started a gag strip called "Fish Eye View" and i actually had some published in the Weekender along side your strip "LeadPaint." it was then and there that i realized i really needed to work on my artwork. Since then i have worked really hard at doing just that. I'm 24 now and living in Atlanta with some friends from college. While all my friends have gotten real jobs with their degrees i have taken a job as a waiter because its quick cash and it gives me more time to draw.
i can't tell you how excited i was to see your strip "Barkeater Lake" get syndicated. I log onto ucomics.com whenever i get the chance to keep up with the strip. It is very funny and stays true to the underlying essance of SL. The fact that someone got syndicated from our small ass town made my dream of someday being syndicated seem slightly more plausable. Not only are you syndicated but so is Gary Trudeau. My mom says it must be something in the water.
Anyways, i just wanted to thank you for being a young cartoonist from Saranac Lake who is following his dream. i can only hope that there really is something in the water.

Sincerely,

Mike MacNerland
i just started my own blog the other day its the first time i have published anything since the Weekender:
