No Joy in Mudville

It's pouring rain. Normally, I wouldn't care, but today we were to bring Molly, the dog with the tumor to a date with amputation. See, this was supposed to happen last Friday, but our regular vet is out on sick leave and we had to scramble to find a new vet. We ended up going to a place that specializes in cancer in dogs.

So, it's raining and we scoot the ever volatile, now muddy, Molly into the Subaru and head off to the vet. We had all said our goodbyes to Molly's leg and moved on to acceptance. She would be the funny dog down the street named, "Tripod". When they took her away for the surgery, I was gonna yell, "Dead leg walkin'". We were finally feeling better.

So, we get to the vet and, well...To make a long story short, Molly still has four legs. It seems that the cancer is pretty much everywhere and even with amputation, she really has only 3-4 months left. She could live up to a year with the amputation, coupled with Chemotherapy, but would it be for her, or for us?

We'll make her as comfortable as we can for as long as we can. That's all we can do.

Man, it's pouring rain...Normally, I wouldn't care.

Damn. Just damn.

I've been there too many times (even one time would be too many, though). All good thoughts to you and Molly.
